Same design different card

Hi All,

Over the weekend I made two cards using the same design but used different colours and sentiments to give them a different feel. I made these cards  for a tutorial which I include in my monthly newsletter which I send to my customers to give them inspiration. These are the finished cards :

This one uses Cardstock of Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate, two different embossing folders, a sentiment from the stampset Perfect Pennants layered on top of a rosette made from Designer series paper. It is then finished with a couple of punched Itty bitty flowers with candy dots on top.

This one S you can see is different. The Cardstock is Raspberry Ripple and Smoky Slate. Two different embossing folders from the one above have been used. The sentiment is from the same set with a gem placed on top and it is finished off with two small hearts with gems on top.

If you would like to receive my monthly newsletter to give you some ideas please send your email address to

Until next time.

First video

Hi All

Following yesterday's post I set about making  my first video. Hubby bought me a video camera for Christmas and I have wanted to make one for ages. I decided that i would keep the first one simple and short and demonstrate a technique which would suit a beginner. So I thought about one of the techniques that I first learnt when I was new to crafting and chose Heat Embossing . Whilst it is not perfect I am relatively pleased with it. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

Less is More Challenge

Hi All,

Hope you are all well. It's a bit breezy on the South Coast today and not very warm. I was hoping to get out and do some gardening but think I will stay in my craft room.

Today I am sharing with you my entry for this weeks challenge at Less is More ( ) where the challenge is to make a one layer Thank you card. I do find one layer cards quite difficult but then that's the good part of doing this challenges. They make you think a bit more and go outside of your comfort zone. This is what I have produced :

It's a small notelet which I first embossed using the embossing folder Designer Frames from Stampin Up which I then masked before using two marker pens and using the Simply Sketched stampset to stamp the poppy inside the frame. I the used the watercolour brush to fill in the flower before using the sentiment from the same set. I am quite pleased with it and I think I will make some more for my customers.

I have wanted to make a video for a while and was given a video camera as a Christmas present so I am going to try this afternoon to produce a short video demonstrating a technique. Hopefully you will be able to see this tomorrow if all goes well.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend

Until next time

Less is More Challenge

Hi all,

It's been a lovely bank holiday on the South coast , lovely warm weather. We made our first visit to the newly opened Costa which opened on Saturday in Chandlers Ford. They have knocked two shop units together and made a very good job of it.

My post today is an entry for the Less is More Challenge ( where the theme this week is either to use three colours or three shades of one colour.  I have tried to do something that is not my usual style , this is what I have produced.

What do you think ?
I have used three shades of blue , Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party.

Back to work tomorrow , and the marking begins in earnest . I have about 65 web projects to mark followed by 4 dissertations so it's head down for the next few weeks.

Have a good week

Until next time

Card Class Romsey

Hi All

It's so lovely to have a long weekend and hopefully the weather will be good. Tomorrow I will be demonstrating the Big Shot at Hobbycraft in Southampton so if you are in the area please pop in.

Last night I held my monthly class in Romsey. We were joined by a new lady, Charley who had never crafted before. However, she made a brilliant job of the projects and I think is hooked and looking forward to the next class.

Here are some of the cards we produced :

I will be back with the remaining two cards tomorrow

I am starting a day card class in June at the Age a Concern Hall in Chandlers Ford. If you would like more details please see the classes page or get in touch.

Have a great weekend
